Gaodingshan Leisure Agricultural Area(高頂山休閒農業區)
Gaodingshan produces a wide variety of agricultural products, including sugar apples, pitayas, passion fruits, high-quality Oolong tea and Jinxuan tea, all of which are greatly favored by tourists. In addition, this is the primary production area of top-grafted pears in Taitung County. The top-grafted pears from Gaodingshan are of excellent quality and its peak harvesting season runs from May through July.
No matter overlooking the East Rift Valley from Meinong Highland, or looking down at Taitung City and the Pacific Ocean from Sihge Mountain will reward tourists with the most stunning panoramic views. Because the Gaodingshan area is rich in avian and other wildlife resources, local residents have been making great efforts for nature conservation. Glowing fireflies together with the chirps of Mikado Pheasant on summer nights announce the significant achievement in the wildlife habitat restoration.
The Gaodingshan area retains characteristics of a traditional agricultural community. Although there are neither sight-seeing paths nor forest trails here, Gaodingshan Leisure Agricultural Area is definitely a good choice for tourists to experience rural life and get close to nature.
